Calico Wakin/Watonai Goldfish
Description: Wakin and Watonai goldfish are a variety of goldfish that displays the twin tail. Very prevalent in Asia where the Wakin and Watonai Goldfish is more common than our own single tail varieties. They are usually available in Red, red and white and sometimes calico. The are suitable for aquariums and ponds. These are imported Calico fish that are extremely rare. We have a small number of these and when they are gone, they are gone! They good examples of the fish and make a pretty addition to a pond. Tail lengths will vary from the shorter Wakin variety to the longer flowing Watonai. Due to the low price point on these fish, we cannot select individual types.
Maximum Size: Upto 10″ but on average 6-8″ when mature.
Environment: Both types are very hardy and suitable for ponds year round. They prefer a filtered pond. They will happily co exist in Koi ponds or smaller more natural ponds alike. They can be kept in very large aquariums that would be suitable for common goldfish. They will however, outcompete slower goldfish varieties such as Oranda and Ranchu in a tank.
Water Conditions: Wakin/Watonai require a pH range of 7-8.5, Ammonia and Nitrite to be virtually 0ppm and dissolved oxygen saturation to remain above 4ppm.
