Our 10 Fish Mix Goldfish/Shubunkins 2-3″ (5 – 7.5cm) selection consists of 5 Goldfish and 5 Shubunkins 2-3″ in size.
Description: Both Goldfish and Shubunkin are the same species (Carassius auratus) and are merely colour variations. Goldfish are the most popular coldwater fish to be kept across the world. It was first selectively bred for color in ancient China more than 1,000 years ago, and several distinct breeds have since been developed. Goldfish breeds vary greatly in size, body shape, fin configuration, and coloration (various combinations of white, yellow, orange, red, brown, and black are known). Our Shubunkin are a beautifully colourful ‘common’ fancy goldfish type. Shubunkin range in colour variations with Black Spots, Blues, Red, Yellow and White.
Maximum Size: Upto 18″″ but on average 8-10″ when mature.
Environment: The Goldfish is well suited to medium to large garden ponds but benefits from well filtered pond with vegetation. They will peacefully mix with all other varieties of fish, however, they are significantly quicker than more Fancy Goldfish types and can out compete them. It is also worth bearing in mind that these goldfish varieties are prolific breeders!
Water Conditions: Goldfish and Shubunkins require a pH range of 7-8.5, Ammonia and Nitrite to be virtually 0ppm and dissolved oxygen saturation to remain above 8ppm. They are not noted to be sensitive to pond treatments but please seek professional advice before treating your pond.
As with any pet, please fully research for yourself to ensure that you can accommodate a fish of this type in your home.
We cannot ever recommend ‘Goldfish Bowls’ as a suitable living space for any fish!
