The Eurasian Ruffe (also simply Ruffe or Pope – Gymnocephalus cernua), is a freshwater fish found in temperate regions of Europe and northern Asia. Once very common in the UK it is not often seen now.
Ruffer are a small predatory fish that is very pretty. It feeds on live foods, molluscs, snails and small fish it can catch. Ruffe exceed 6″ (15cm). Best suited to small natural ponds. It can also be a prolific breeder!
