Calico Wakin Goldfish
Description: Wakin goldfish are a variety of goldfish that displays the twin tail. Very prevalent in Asia where the Wakin Goldfish is more common than our own single tail varieties. They are usually available in Red, red and white and sometimes calico. The are suitable for aquariums and ponds. These are UK bred Calico Wakin that are extremely rare. We have a small number of these and when they are gone, they are gone! They are not perfect examples of the standard and may have minor ‘defects’ that does not effect their health. As such they we are not able to identify sex or check standards of these fish. They are a lovely little fish that are ideal as something different in your pond!
Maximum Size: Upto 10″ but on average 6-8″ when mature.
Environment: The Calico Wakin is very hardy and suitable for ponds year round. They prefer a filtered pond. Calico wakin will happily co exist in Koi ponds or smaller more natural ponds alike. They can be kept in very large aquariums that would be suitable for common goldfish. They will however, outcompete slower goldfish varieties such as Oranda and Ranchu in a tank.
Water Conditions: Wakin require a pH range of 7-8.5, Ammonia and Nitrite to be virtually 0ppm and dissolved oxygen saturation to remain above 4ppm.
As with any pet, please fully research for yourself to ensure that you can accommodate a fish of this type in your home.
