About Us

MF Aquatics was established in late 2013 after a long lasting interest in coldwater fish through either keeping ornamental garden ponds or being an avid angler for over 25 Years!

After completing the build of my own large pond (some might say Koi pond), I found it extremely difficult to source native fish species commonly found in the UK. Whilst ‘borrowing’ fish from local waters was an option, this carried with it inherent risks of parasites and viruses, not to mention it’s actually theft!

That combined with many years of watching poor advice and underhanded sales tactics (on a par with some car salesmen!), MF Aquatics was born out of a Hobby and a frustration at ‘the trade’. My aim was to run a small home based business in Derby, where advice was genuine, honest  and relevant.

With that in mind you can rest assured we know what we want to achieve for our customers. Fishy wellbeing! It’s not just about Koi carp for Sale!

Where do our fish come from?

To keep costs competitive, have negotiated directly with farms and our CEFAS authorisation allows us to import directly (with the required paperwork and health checks!).

Our Quality Koi are from Israel and Sri Lanka and Superb fancy goldfish from Thailand, Singapore, China and Hong Kong.

We also work with a number of UK CEFAS authorised farms to source high quality Comets, Shubunkins, Orfe, Tench, Carp and other native species.

All of our fish are quarantined on site before sale to ensure you get healthy fish delivered to your door.

We expanded throughout 2015/16 into the restocking and fishery management market. We can offer health certified coarse fish over the winter months. Netting and Cropping services are also available for those looking to reduce biomass in their lakes.

In 2020, we bought a 10 acre site in Nottinghamshire. This is where our fish warehouse and stock ponds are located. The site allows us to grow on and produce a large amount of native and ornamental species so much more is produced in the UK. We house all our fish for sale under one roof where they are fully acclimatised year round for sale.

From humble beginnings we now have our own site. We can supply fish from the smallest Stickleback to the largest Sturgeon. Need a fish health check up? We can do that! Need a pond renovation… That too! We also supply quality pond equipment and filtration. 

In short, we can just about cover anything coldwater fish related in the UK!
